Juliana Vargas (B. 1994 Colombia) received a B.F.A in Fibers from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2017. As an artist and textile designer Juliana explores a combination of techniques, materials and colors through the creation of wearable art pieces and prints.  Her work has been published in Port City Review, SCAD’s annual journal, and displayed in several Fibers Department Open Studio events. Juliana had the opportunity to collaborate with New York based artists Steven and William Ladd, and with fashion designer Lottie Bertello in the creation of embellished surfaces, knitted and embroidered textiles.

My work celebrates the relationship between the traditional and modern. Intricate techniques are utilized for the creation of new interpretations of textile accessories rich in design, detail and quality. Each piece shares memories of places, traditions, rhythms and experiences.
